Edgar Martinez

Edgar MartinezBecause the Seattle Mariners inexplicably failed to recognize that he was ready to face major league pitching, Edgar Martinez might never earn his place in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Martinez was 27 years old when the M’s finally allowed him to play every day in 1990, and he quickly made up for his late start. He hit .300 or higher in his first 10 full season, only missing out in 1993-94 when he was injured for much of the season. Martinez won two batting titles, the first right-handed batter to do that since Roberto Clemente.
