Offerman spent 15 seasons in the major leagues, punctuated by explosive outbursts at umpires and teammates. He was famous for being one of the worst defensive infielders of his era, if not all time. He was a two-time All-Star and he led the American League in triples in consecutive seasons in 1998 and 1999.
With Boston in 2000, Offerman received a three-game suspension after being ejected from a game at Fenway Park in one of the biggest meltdowns seen on a major league baseball field. Offerman had to be restrained by his teammates after losing it when he was called out on strikes. Offerman nearly tore his uniform completely off as he was leaving the diamond.
