WAR PER SEASON
There was a time when baseball teams would play a center fielder who averaged five home runs per season. That’s if they could catch the ball, and that’s what Manning, who won the Gold Glove Award in 1976, could do. He played 13 seasons despite being a low-average singles hitter. He is probably most remembered as the man who stole his teammates’ wife.
