In Game Seven of the 1926 World Series, with his team ahead by one run, O’Farrell threw out Babe Ruth trying to steal second base to end the Fall Classic. That play gave the Cardinals their first World Championship. O’Farrell was named Most Valuable Player in the National League that season, mostly due to his skills as a catcher.
