Gary Lavelle

Gary Lavelle For more than a decade Gary Lavelle was a dependable reliever for the San Francisco Giants, saving 127 games and regularly pitching in at least 60 games per season. The stocky lefthander was a starting pitcher in the minor leagues but only made three starts in the majors, in 1981 as a replacement. He was a bullpen teammate of Greg Minton for 11 seasons, the two teaming to save 42 games for the Giants in 1983, the first time two relievers on the same team had topped 20 in one season (Minton had 22, Lavelle 20).
