Jim Northrup

Jim NorthrupFor more than a decade starting in the mid-1960s, Jim Northrup was an important part of the Detroit Tigers’ outfield. He’ll forever be remembered for two big hits in the 1968 World Series: a grand slam in Game Six and a two-run triple in the 7th inning of Game Seven that proved to be the game-winner.

Northrup exited Detroit under bad circumstances in 1974 after he voiced his displeasure at the release of longtime teammate Norm Cash. The following day he was traded to the Montreal Expos by displeased general manager Jim Campbell.
