In a 15-year career spent almost equally between the California Angels, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers, Mickey Rivers hit .295 with 267 stolen bases. He was best known as the center fielder and leadoff man for three consecutive pennant-winning Yankee teams, two of which won World Series titles (1977-1978).
Rivers summed up his life philosophy this way:
Ain’t no sense worrying. If you have no control over something, ain’t no sense worrying about it -you have no control over it anyway. If you do have control, why worry? So either way, there ain’t no sense worrying.
