Mickey Tettleton

Mickey Tettleton

Tettleton was a master at the "three true outcomes" --- strikeout, walk, and home run. He was a switch-hitting power hitter who had his best seasons for the Detroit Tigers but also played well for the Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers, and Oakland A's. With the Tigers in the early 1990s, Tettleton was in a fearsome lineup with power hitters Cecil Fielder, Rob Deer, Kirk Gibson, Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker, and table-setter Tony Phillips.

Seven switch-hitting catchers have hit at least 100 homers: Jorge Posada, Ted Simmons, Jason Varitek, Mickey Tettleton, Todd Hundley, Victor Martinez, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
