Teams With The Most Home Runs In MLB History

Which 7 Teams hit the most homers in a single season?

For the first time in three years, we can enjoy Major League Baseball without disruption from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Crowds are back in big league ballparks. You can find the full list of Odds To Win The World Series here.

Today, we are going to be looking at the teams that have hit the most home runs in a single season.

As a testament to the quality of the sport, you will notice that all but one of these records were set in the last four years. And the top four records were all set in 2019.

#7 – Toronto Blue Jays (2021)

262 home runs

2021 was a bittersweet year for the Blue Jays. Like the other Canadian teams, they started their season playing in an American stadium due to travel restrictions. 2021 was the second shortest season this team has ever played. And they came second to last in the AL East.

That being said, they were highly prolific when it came to home runs. They slugged 262 home runs in 162 games.

#6 – Seattle Mariners (1997)

264 home runs

The fact that the 1997 Mariners team is the only 20th century team and the only team not from the last four years on this list shows you just how special they were.

This amazing achievement is partly down to one man – Ken Griffey Jr. – who hit 56 of the 264 home runs on his own that season. As well as leading the league in home runs, they led overall in runs too – scoring 925 that season.

They were sadly knocked out of the first round of the playoffs by Baltimore.

#5 – New York Yankees (2018)

267 home runs

This was the first season for Yankees manager Aaron Boone and he arrived with a bang. The team led in home runs and came second overall in the AL East. They would go on to lose as a Wild Card team in back-to-back seasons for the first time as a franchise.

That season, five Yankees players hit 27 home runs or more, and Giancarlo Stanton slugged an impressive 38 on his own.

#4 – Los Angeles Dodgers (2019)

279 home runs

We have now reached the incredible year of 2019. We believe that in 20 years time we will all look back on this as one of the greatest years in the history of MLB.

This was the highest scoring season ever and the highest in home runs as well. All pretty fitting for the 150th year of the league.

This was a great season for the Dodgers, they had the second-best win-loss record (106-56) and set a franchise record for most home runs in a single season.

#3 – Houston Astros (2019)

288 home runs

In 2019, the Houston Astros also set a franchise record for the most home runs in a single season.

The Astros had an incredible season. They had a 107-55 win-loss record, the best in the league. They even made it to the World Series, before losing to Washington 3-4.

The only thing that really marred their season was the firing of their manager and general manager after the Astros were found guilty of electronically stealing signs in 2017 and 2018.

#2 – New York Yankees (2019)

306 home runs

Throughout the history of baseball, the Yankees hold the majority of league records. So it is no surprise to us that they have made it this high up this list.

Like many other teams in 2019, the Yankees set a franchise record for most home runs hit in a single season. They ended the season with a 103-59 win-loss record.

The Yankees stormed through the 2019 playoffs, only to be knocked out by the Houston Astros.

#1 – Minnesota Twins (2019)

307 home runs

Taking the top spot, by just one home run, are the 2019 Minnesota Twins.

The team ended the season with a 101-61 win-loss record but was knocked out of the playoffs by the Yankees after winning the AL Central division.

Nelson Cruz slugged an amazing 41 home runs that season and he was closely followed by teammate Max Kepler with 35 home runs.

There is a chance that we will never see this record broken.
