If you’re a baseball fan what could be better than to life in a home with a view of a ballpark? That’s a possibility thanks to an incredible transformation of an abandoned ballpark in Indianapolis.
Tenants can now select to live in one of 138 units in a luxury apartment building built in a former minor league baseball stadium. The city of Indianapolis sold the former ballpark, last known as Bush Stadium, for $1 to a group of property investors in 2022. The four investors poured $14 million into renovations. The results are astounding.
Owen J. Bush Stadium last hosted professional baseball in the 1990s, when the Indianapolis Indians played there. The Indians were members of the International League, and served as the Triple-A affiliate for several major league teams, including the Cincinnati Reds, Montreal Expos, and Chicago White Sox.
The Indians were a successful franchise, winning more than a dozen league titles in both the International League and American Association prior to that tenure.
