The 2025 Major League Baseball schedule just dropped recently. We couldn’t be more excited to see what’s about to happen for the next season. Yes, we know we are still in 2024, and in the second half of this regular season but it’s never too early to start marking our calendars and looking ahead to some of the headline matchups for 2025.
The A’s home opener in Sacramento
It’ll begin an intriguing era in the story of the soon-to-be former Oakland Athletics. From next season, and until their relocation to Las Vegas is complete in 2028, they will simply be known as the Athletics or ‘the A’s’. No city name will be attached to the team playing in Sacramento. The first game of their home opener at Sutter Health Park will be on March 31st against the Chicago Cubs. They will be playing 81 home games for 2025 at the home stadium of the Sacramento River Cats, the San Francisco Giants triple affiliate.
Bristol Motor Speedway hosts Braves–Reds
For the first time in over 60 years, the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee will be hosting a professional sporting event other than NASCAR. That’s because the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds will do battle at the half-mile oval that will be converted into a baseball stadium. While there are over 100,000 seats at this speedway, it’s hard to say how many fans will pack the stadium in its converted form.
One thing is for sure: even though it’s a neutral ground game, it may feel like a home game for the Atlanta Braves since it’s in the heart of the South. That home-field advantage could give you enough information to make a well-informed bet. For more information on betting on MLB baseball, check out Trustnbet.com.
Baseball season begins in Japan
The MLB season 2025 will begin at the Tokyo Dome, where the Dodgers and Cubs will face off in the Tokyo series. Incidentally, this will be the 25th anniversary of the first regular-season games in the Land of the Rising Sun. Regular season games have taken place in Japan in 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012. With Shohei Ohtani returning to his native homeland as a Dodger, it will be quite the homecoming for one of the best players in the entire league. It will also be the first time in Dodgers history that they have played in Japan.
Opening day 2025
Yes, it is the most beautiful time of the year. We’re not talking about Christmas, but MLB opening day. Except for the Tokyo Dome matchup, the Dodgers and the Cubs will face off again on opening day. Notably, we’ll also see some interleague and divisional matchups on opening day. Check out the matchup between the Brewers and Yankees, Mets and Astros, Orioles and Blue Jays, and divisional rivalries between the Phillies and Nationals and the A’s and Mariners.
All-Star Game in Atlanta
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will be held at Truist Park in Atlanta. It’ll be the 95th installation of this midsummer classic and the first time since 1972 when the city hosted an MLB All-Star Game. Of course, let’s not forget some of the other events going on before the game, such as the home run derby. Soon after the All-Star break is completed, we will return to the regular season as usual, and the Braves will be back home when they face off against the Yankees. Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox will be headed to Chicago to face off against the Cubs to kick off the second half of the 2025 MLB season.
Although, at the time of this writing, we are still in the 2024 season, excitement levels for next year’s MLB season are already ramping up, and we’re all here for it. Who might win the game at Bristol Motor Speedway? Who might win the MVP award in 2025? Will Shohei and the Dodgers show Japan and the world that they deserve to be considered one of the best teams in baseball in the upcoming year and beyond? Those questions will undoubtedly be answered next season. But for now, let’s enjoy what the 2024 season has left to offer.
